Picture waking up to the horrifying shock of not being able to move a muscle, and no matter how hard you try, the only functioning portion of your body appears to be your seemingly powerless brain. This lack of power is not as a result of being unintelligent, but more in a sense of a traffic jam between it and the rest of your paralyzed body. The signals that you are desperately trying to send out seem to be stuck in gridlock, and while you are aware of them and their intentions, your torso and limbs simply seem unreachable. As the terror mounts in your mind, your senses begin to perceive feelings, sounds and images that may not exist. Finally, to top it off, comes the dreadful confrontation with thoughts of potential death.
