SoccerSoccer is a game played by two teams on a rectangular field. The the point of this game is to drive the ball into the opponent's goal. The ball is controlled and driven by the person's feet. The team is not allowed to touch the ball by their hands, only the goal keeper is allowed to handle the ball. Soccer, in some places is played barefoot, to play this game, all you need is to have a ball and an open area.

Soccer is the world's most popular sport and it is played my men and women of all ages. In other places outside the United States soccer is called football.

The rules of soccer are made up by the Federation Intertionale de Football Association (FIFA), FIFA is like the governing body of international soccer. Soccer is played by two teams of 11 players. The size of a soccer field may vary, the lengths are between 100 and 130 yards, and a width between 50 and 100 yards.

the length of a soccer field must always be greater than the width. Games normally consists of two 45 minute halfs. A referee on the field watches the game, he is assisted by two linesmen who supervise the sidelines. The point of the game is to force the ball inside the goal either by kicking it or heading the ball into the opponents goal. After the two halves end, the team with the highest score wins the game. If the game ends in a tie, both team go to overtime, and if they are still tied up they go to the penalty kick shoot out.

With each team occupying half the field, the game begins with a kickoff from the center. The attacking team must dribble the ball towards the opposing teams' side of the field. Players may not kick, trip, or hold opponents. The linesmen signal with small flags when the ball is out of bounce. The ball will return to play by the member of the team the did not kicked it out of bounce. In order for the player to throw in the ball he has to stand outside the sidelines, uses a two handed, overhead throw as a throw in. The Linesmen also have to signal offside violations.

When recieving a forward pass close to the goal line from a teamate, and there are not at least two opponents ahead of the reciever, it is called offsides.

The game of soccer began in the 19th century in England, where a lot of football games developed, and they all involved both handling and kicking. Soccer global spread began at the end of the 19th century, when british traders, sailors, and workers spreaded the sport all over the world. By 1930 professional leagues were going on in many countries. FIFA was formed in 1904 and by 1930 FIFA organized the first World Championship, now known as the World Cup, which is played played every 4 years
