In a few short months, we, the Class of 2015, will be leaving behind the familiar school routine to pursue our careers, in the hope of creating a future for ourselves that fulfills all our dreams - a good job, travelling, our own apartment or house, maybe a family. All these need one important thing - our health! However, we are in danger of becoming the first generation that does not outlive our parents. Our lack of physical exercise and unhealthy food choices have created a health issue where roughly a third of Canadians aged 5 to 17 is overweight or obese. Obesity increases the risk of many life threatening health problems such as type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease, stroke, arthritis and cancer. In order to enjoy a healthy future, our generation must take action. We need to use our knowledge of the strategies that fast food marketing companies use, so we are not so easily swayed to buy fast food and processed food which we know is bad for us unhealthy food.
