Stephen King is known by many other names like Richard Bachman, John Swithen, and also as Steve King (Hanson 1). Stephen King calls himself a "brand name" (Marcus 2). Stephen King was born in 1947 in Portland Maine. Stephen King writes many different kinds of stories. He writes fantasy fiction, film scripts, horror stories, literary criticism, mystery fiction, occult fiction, psychological novels, science fiction, short stories, vampire fiction, and western fiction (Hanson 2). Stephen King was very successful at every thing he wrote. Stephen King is a very successful author. "Stephen King is the literary equivalent of a Big Mac and large fries an McDonald"(Marcus 4). He grew up with nothing. He had no money to pay any bills. He was about to move into his car and start living out of it because he didn't have any money. He didn't even have a phone in his house.

Then a publisher contacted him and gave him close to half a million dollars for the novel Carrie. That is when his career first started to blossom.

Carrie is a modern version of Cinderella that has a different ending then Cinderella, but has the same story line (Alexander 1). Stephen King shows two different kinds of characters in the story Carrie. He shows a good and a bad side to each and everyone.

Stephen King is a very controversial author. "King takes ordinary stories and makes them great" (Johanon 3). "He takes fairytales and turns them into real life examples of what could happen" (Foster 5). "In many of Stephen King's novels he shows that everyone has a good and a bad side to them" (Smith 3).
