This gives an overview of the Broadband internet technology and about the Broadband Internet Service providers in Sri Lanka and the research problem. It includes a brief introduction of the customer and its operations and a brief introduction of the research background, research objectives, and scope of the research and the outline of the report.
Introduction about Broadband internet Technology
The world of telecommunications has changed rapidly as we enter the era of convergence between broadband Internet, wireless networks, and the content sector. The importance of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) is undeniable as it has been applied in various fields for the purpose of service enhancement. It has been proven that resources can be managed efficiently and effectively through ICT. Broadband is considered as a key to enhance competitiveness of an economy and sustaining economic growth (OECD, 2001, 2002). Many governments around the world are increasingly committed to extending broadband networks to their citizens.
They promote usage of this technology in the belief that broadband will contribute to economic and social development by enhancing productivity and introducing new services.
In general, broadband internet is a service of data communication which allows people to connect their browser with internet. Compared to the conventional data communication service which is called as dial up internet connection, this service will give you more capacity to surf on the internet and get as many as data customers want. The problem is the frequency used is also in a large amount. There are some benefits if someone uses the broadband internet today. Firstly, coming with a huge band of frequency, this type of internet service enables people to open several URL at the same time.
