Suicide
Thousands of teens commit suicide every year. Suicide is the third leading cause of death for people between the ages of 15 and 24. It is the second leading cause of death among college students. As teenagers, it is hard to deal with the emotional and physical changes we go through, and adult guidance is very important to help us through these times. Many people think about ending their lives, but most don't end up doing it.
I never thought I would be affected by suicide. I woke up one morning only to find out my best friend committed suicide. I knew him since I was born and our families were very close. At the age of 12, it was very hard for me to understand why anyone would do that. I looked up to him so much. At times I thought about ending my life so I could be with him. I never had the guts to try it, but the thought crossed my mind many times. As I got older I realized suicide is just an easy way out and I am too strong of a person to ever do that.
He decided to have a police officer end his life, rather than take his own. He drove like a maniac on the Long Island Expressway, waiting for police to pull him over. When they did, he pulled out a fake gun and walked towards them, pointing it at them. They shot him a couple times and after he was dead they realized the gun was phony and it was a suicide attempt. They found letters to friends and family in the trunk of his car, and even one to the office who killed him. While most people looked at it as a selfish act, I blamed it...
