The Church has been around for 172 years to date and has quite a history. We can compare Mormonism to Judaism, two religions that are similar and different in various ways.

Many people have heard of the Mormons but not of its restorer Joseph Smith Jr.,

who was this guy, is what they wonder? Joseph Smith Jr. was born on December 23, 1805 in Sharon, Vermont to Joseph and Lucy Mack Smith. As a young boy, Joseph was educated at home from the family Bible. In the spring of 1820 at age fourteen, Joseph Smith Jr. had what members of the Church often refer to as the ?First Vision?. During this time Joseph was confused about which religion he should join. His father, Joseph Smith Sen. was of the Presbyterian faith but Joseph was leaning towards joining the Methodist?s. He was conflicted, and found himself saying, ?What is to be done? Who of all these parties are right; or, are they all wrong together? If any one of them be right, which is it, and how shall I know??
