Identify techniques for reducing the probability of dysfunctional conflict
Identify conflict resolution techniques that will be used when conflict arises
Teams are groups of individuals linked for a common purpose. To assure the success of a team, team members' strengths and weaknesses must be identified and used appropriately. In order to accomplish this, open communication must be present to allow for constructive opinions and suggestions. Each team member must also be motivated and desire to accomplish the tasks as set forth.
Commitment to teamwork is essential to compete in the changing business environment that exists today. This paper will discuss how project team members are selected, diversity amongst groups and conflict resolution techniques.
Successful teams are built by selecting appropriate team members for a project and assigned specific orders to decrease the chance of conflicts arising within a team.
Initiating enjoyable activities that provide employees the ability to get to know each other will build a bond and promote team unity which will also help to build the morale of the team members. Cohesiveness must be present to assure the team achieves the goals of the project. When an individual feels that he or she is truly a part of a team, more thought and consideration will be placed on completing the project.
Every team should have definite objectives or goals. Objectives, or goals, should support the team's mission or purpose. In other words, every goal the team pursues should assist the team in fulfilling its mission. The mission is the entire reason for the team. Goals for the project at hand should be measurable.
