In everyday life, thoughts pass through our mind. Wishful thinking is had. At night one might dream. One might dream about far off places, impossible things, or future things and even what ifs. People use their minds to venture into where reality will no let them. Possibly their conscious minds won't allow them. What if, though, there was an outside force. A force that could push one's mind forward. Make dreams reality, make the impossible, possible. What if this force could void all moral walls and all rules. That would result in some largely drastic events. In the play, Macbeth by, William Shakespeare, Lady Macbeth clearly is the "outside force" and cause of Duncan's murder by Macbeth.
Lady Macbeth, by any means necessary manipulated Macbeth to do as she saw fit. Lady Macbeth wanted the king killed, and so that is exactly what Macbeth did. Lady Macbeth is clearly the Master of Manipulation, "...When
you dust do it, then you were a man; /And, to be more than what you were, you would/ Be so much more the man... (Shakespeare 41)" Lady Macbeth hit the most sensitive part of a human being- the ego. Lady Macbeth clearly is messing with Macbeth's male ego. Saying, "you were a man" saying he has lost some of his masculinity, however she offers salvation to him. Through doing as Lady Macbeth pleased, Macbeth, "would be so much more the man". How easy it seemed to Macbeth. Submit and go with the plan and become more the man, nay, much more the man. What a deal, his wife liked him so much better after he gave in. All he had to do was off the king. Not only would he please his wife, be Macbeth himself- would become all powerful, a king!
