Business LawMarch 23, 2009The Constitution of the United States of America was written to protect businesses and sets an economic foundation, in addition to protecting the rights and privileges of the United States citizen. For over 200 years, the United States Constitution has been influential to our way of life. It is the legal structure of our political system, it established governmental bodies, determined how the members of those governmental bodies are selected, and stipulated the rules by which they base their decisions.

The United States Constitution is a document that was written to provide an outline for the federal government and is, in the end, the absolute law for Americans to follow. This document "establishes the structure of the federal government, delegates powers to the federal government, and guarantees certain fundamental rights (Cheeseman, 2007, p. 49)." These essential rights, laws and freedoms have been granted to all American citizens.

Although the signing of the Constitution was in 1788, the laws still pertain to the ever-changing economy and culture of today. Referred to as a "living" document, the Constitution has evolved in unison with our Country. I will attempt to describe the role of the United States Constitution in business regulations in the following paragraphs.

The United States Constitution…The BeginningThe world's oldest federal constitution and the supreme law in the United States of America is the United States Constitution. The United States Constitution was implemented in September, 1787 by the Constitutional Convention in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (Wikipedia, n.d.). The United States Constitution created the three branches of our government and developed the structure of the federal Government. The Legislative Branch (Congress) would be the first branch.
