In human body, nutrients bolster the body to function properly and without problem. Nutrient is a substance needed by the body for growth, repair, and maintenance also even using for energy consumption. Proper nutrition means that enough foods and supplements are in the body to function. It is important to consider that no single nutrient can maintain beneficial health and well being. All of the nutrients are necessary in different amounts along with exercise to maintain proper health. There are six main types of nutrients used to maintain body health. They are: carbohydrates, fats, proteins, vitamins, minerals, and water. Vitamins, minerals, and water are required in the diets. They do not provide energy, but they still contribute many different functions such as regulating and maintaining the body system to function properly. Many different vitamins, occur in many foods in small amount, are necessary in trace amounts for the normal metabolic functioning of the body.

Vitamins are separated into two main categories. Fat soluble vitamins are stored in body's fatty tissue while water-soluble vitamins are used immediately and left over are sent straight to the urine. There are total of thirteen essential vitamins for the body, particularly vitamin D plays role of preventing bone loss, maintain calcium and even future prevention of getting bone loss related disease.

Vitamin D is the general name given to a specific group of fat-soluble composites. The main two forms of vitamin D are separated as D2 for ergocalciferol, which are found in plants, yeasts and fungi and D3, the other half which is found in cholecalciferol, of animal origin.
