Sometimes it is hard to believe our hardy American meals of scrambled eggs for breakfast, pizza for lunch, and steak accompanied by mash potatoes for dinner actually provides us with all the vitamins and minerals we need. Most of the time we do not even consider whether or not what were having adequately provides us with the essential vitamins and minerals we need in our daily diet. In his article titled "Vitamin Supplements Are Beneficial", Geoffrey Cowley states that vitamin supplements should be an essential part of one's diet, although he clarifies that the majority of the medical field believes otherwise. Cowley primitively states its positive affects in the preventions of certain types of cancers, as well as Osteoporosis. Contributing to his theory on the benefits of vitamin supplements, supplements are not only beneficial for your health but may also improve your performance on the field of recreation as well expediting one's recovery from a broken bone that can be a long process at times but can be solved with a proper mineral supplement containing calcium.

When I was a freshman at Xavier High School located on 46 West 16th Street located between Fifth and Sixth Avenue in New York City, my track coach Mr. Patrick Dormer told Steven Liden, a runner and senior at the time at Xavier, a few days after he had been rushed to the hospital during the Indoor Sectional Championships' meet because of a broken ankle caused by a two hundred meter race, that he should take a calcium supplement. Due to the seriousness of the injury, Steve was not expected to run another meet for the rest of the academic year.
