Introduction:The wage gap between men and women has said to have narrowed over the past decade. Yet, gender pay gap has remained one of the consistent areas of inequality between women and men. The purpose of this research is to attest that men earn more than women using a random sample from a secondary source. This research exploits a data set of males and females with characteristics such as experience, educations, and annual wages. The analysis will find out much of the gender wage gap can be attributed to differences in experience levels, education, and occupations between male and female annual wages. The data set used is limited to a population of professionals, management, sales, service, and clerical positions.

Data AnalysisThe three central tendencies of the data, known as the mean, median and mode were calculated for annual wages, years of experience, and years of education. The mean measures the average and is the most common measure of central tendency. The average annual pay of both the 51 men and women for 2005 was $35, 390. The average years of education were 13 and the average years of experience was 19. The median is the 50th percentile of a data set or the middle number. The median for annual pay was $32,000, 12 for years of education, and 17 for years of experience. The mode represents a value that appears the most in a data set and is listed more often than others. The mode for annual wages was $50, 000, 12 for education, and 4 for experience.

To calculate the dispersion the standard deviation measurement was used to measure the average distance from the mean of each variable tested. The standard deviation for annual wages was $20,247, 2.30 for education, and13.05 for experience. The standard population variance formula...
