The Watsons Go To Birmingham - 1963
This story is narrated by Kenny Watson. Throughout the story he talks about the troubles that go on during the school year with him and his brother and his brother's friends. His father and mother are very good to him and his family and have no problems throughout the story between them.
The story starts out with Kenny starting 4th grade and Byron, his brother starting 5th grade. Byron was the biggest kids in elementary school and no one messed with him, but people were always picking on Kenny even his own brother Byron. But at the house he wasn't picking on anyone because daddy would give spankings.
One day after school a new kid in town stole Kenny's money. Byron wasn't too happy with that. So the next day after school Byron called down the kid and beat the snot out of him.
Throwing him against the fence, kicking him, and Byron made him give Kenny all the money he had in his pockets. Then he made Kenny punch him in the stomach, so he did but not hard.
One day Byron thought it would smart to dye his hair green. Daddy wasn't happy with this at all. So he shaved his head and he made him stay the summer at his grandmother's house in Birmingham, Alabama. Daddy spent a lot of time on getting ready for the long trip to Birmingham. He went out and got a record player and fixed it up for the 20 hour drive. When they got there they had met grandma for the very first time and were kind of scared of her. While this essay may be accurate it lacks content and correct grammar. Fragments and lack of punctuation plauge the essay (most noticeably in the Thrid Paragraph). Revision is a must and this essay should only be used as a very basic guide to the work "The Watsons go to Birmingham." I find it highly unlikely that an 11th grader wrote this or that it recieved a 93%.
