I am an employee of Great Lasorda Health Plan. Great Lasorda Health Plan is a managed health care plan. Communication within GLHP consists of emails, payroll attachments, work procedures and policies, telephone, and postings on bulletin boards throughout the facility. A majority of the emails that are sent, both internally and externally, make up the bulk of the communication that takes place. Using the Outlook system, the emails also allow for the scheduling of meetings and appointments. Additional software applications used at GLHP use email as a main function to ensure that customer inventories are checked through an automatic inventory management system, supplies are ordered and updated for usage, and work orders are initiated based on customer demand. Payroll attachments, mainly consisting of information regarding employee morale, benefits and payroll information, are provided for those team members that do not have regular access to the email system. These attachments are usually provided, in the case of employee events or benefit changes, at least two to four weeks prior to the date provided.

Supervisors are required to sign a statement that all team members have been provided with the attachments.

There are many factors that create diversity in the workplace. Diversity can be a positive trait of a company or can cause workplace dilemma. Diversity is human qualities that are different from our own and outside the groups, to which we belong, yet are present in other individuals and groups (Schermerhorn, 2003, pg. 13). At GLHP, diversity is present in abundance. Some of the factors that create diversity are: age, gender, values and religion. At this company all the different factors of diversity are present and all are embraced and accepted. At GLHP, all employees have respect for each other and everyone is perceived as an equal.
