Taiwan Officially the Republic of China(ROC) ,is a country in East Asia. Taiwan's total land area is about 36,000 square kilometres,but the population is about 23 million.Its capital is Taipei. Han Chinese make up the vast majority of people. Mandarin is the official language, while significant proportions of the population speak Holo and Hakka.The government is democratic with a president as its head.Although development of Taiwan is uneven,the high education.While Taiwan is losing its high economic position in East Asia.

Taiwanese have directly elected a president every four years since 1996, after the island once ruled single-handedly by the Nationalists consummated about a decade of democratic reforms.

Taiwan's government is a multiparty democratic regime headed by popularly-elected president and unicameral legislature. The head of state and commander-in-chief of the armed forces is the president. Taiwan's power is distributed among five large branches: the Legislative (National Assembly), Executive, Judicial, Examination, and Control.

The people in Taiwan are also entitled to the freedoms of speech, residence, travel, assembly, confidential communication, religion, and association. Personal freedom is also guaranteed.

The president of Taiwan is directly elected for a four-year term by the people and it is optional.There is universal suffrage and the voting age is 20 years and over . There has been many issues especially in recent years concerning elections. Accusation of vote buying and blackmail has been most cited. Most accusations leveled, concerns, vote buying particularly in rural areas where representatives of political parties or district captains are sent out offering up to 2,000 Baht ($68 AUS) for a vote. Others concern cheating and ballot tampering.
