I think the persecution of Christain - or of people of any religion - is evil. Religion is the opium of the people according to Marx and there should be the freedom of it. The Romans were afraid of the Xtians because the ywere 'weird'. They identified each other with the sign: I CH T Y S, which meant Jesus Christ the Saviour Of the World and met at night. They held periodic feasts where they ate bread which they called 'the flesh of Christ' and drank wine which they called 'His blood'. They spoke in strange tongues and did many strange things. The Romans did not understand these things and so were scared. 'People hate what they don't understand...'
