  • I liked it.

As a personal note, I never like people using 'the dictionary defines...' in their essays. But that's a personal qualm. In addition, I think that writing style changed midway through. At the beginning you were addressing someone, and then suddenly you weren't. I think you should have stuck to one or the other, otherwise it comes off a lot less academic. All in all though, I liked it for what it was.

  • A very good short essay.

I do think, though, that there were areas, such as respect for others, which possibly deserved another paragraph, or, perhaps, different perspectives for what is respect. For instance, while you say saying 'sir' and 'ma'am' are signs of respect, that's not always the case. Being English this is something that lost value, unfortunately. However during my time in the Deep South with my Mississippian fiance, I am the polite one. Where as when we're over here, she is the polite one. It makes you think.Other than that though, I didn't have a problem with the essay. Although there were one or two minor typos, but that's not something to worry about.

  • Nice.

I liked it and chuckled a good few times. At the same time, though, I think some of your explanations come off more like you're underestimating the reader than a more in depth example.Good work though.

  • Hmm.

I would have liked this more if it looked a bit more in depth at what makes a person happy. You could look at the likes of Schopenhauer and the Utilitarianists whose definitions of happiness often revolved around pleasure/pain.In short, you've mentioned a lot of things that make a person happy. But why do they make us happy. I think that the cause is just as important as the effect as far as definitions go.
