  • Argue with this.

"is hard to imagine how anyone can believe that treating people differently... based on their sex or race is morally acceptable"Affirmative action treats people differently based on their race and/or sex. You can't argue with that. You just simply can't. It's impossible: it would be like saying the grass is purple when it's green.Affirmative action treats women and/or minorities differently than men or caucasians. It's literal. It isn't subjective. It can't be contradicted without complete disconnection from reality. (psychosis)What you REALLY mean is that it's not acceptable to treat CERTAIN groups unfavorably based upon their PARTICULAR gender and/or race.Right or wrong, that's what you mean. Wether you think thats good or bad, that is your explicit opinion.Go ahead and try to turn that around on me, I need a good laugh.

  • Idiotic and illogical.

Affirmative action requires the advocate to see people in terms of their race, and not their personal attributes."...someday my children will be judged not by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character" - MLK Jr.Affirmative action gives individuals an advantage over another based solely on their race (or gender) without any regard to their character. That is an incredibly blatant form of discrimination that should outrage any non-prejudiced individual. It is impossible to argue with those who do not use logical thinking. It is incredibly obvious that affirmative action is a form of discrimination, and therefore in direct contradiction with the Civil Rights Act. A five-year old could figure it out. But the proponents of affirmative action live in a fantasy world where obvious realities simply do not apply. You make a pathetic attempt to mask your own bigotry by accusing your opponents of being prejudiced.Freud had a phrase for that. It's called "projection" and usually signifies some sort of emotional or mental issue.Maybe you should get some therapy.

  • A good essay wrecked

Your essay is of good quality. It provides intelligent analysis of "The Lottery", and it is well written. But overall, the essay is terrible. If I understand correctly, the goal was to analyze the short story "The Lottery" by Shirley Jackson. But just one sentence can ruin the entire essay. Your political jab concerning Iraq and gay marriage was irrelevant to the prompt and completely uncalled for. There are appropriate ways and places in which to air your political views. This was not one of them. I find it amazing that someone as apparently intelligent as you has such an overwelming lack of tact. For crying out loud, try to show a higher level of self-control.
