  • War poetry

Many of the 'pro-war' poets were actually commissioned by the governemnt as a form of propaganda, but that would mean a whole new angle. As it is, the essay is well structured and quotes validate your arguments well. A good analysis.

  • Sensitive issue

... But because you've researched your area thoroughly it's handled with a firm grasp of the situation and how we can improve upon it. Another well analysed case!

  • Characters' pasts and realism

I think this is a really good analysis of some of the nuances of the realist genre work with our knowledge to provoke thought. The anti-hero, popular amongst realist writings, is clearly and well explained in your essay.

  • Really well structured

Hi again! Another good essay! Like the way you approached both poems seperately, as I tried to analyse them in tandem and in a lot of ways it restricts you from exploring the themes in greater depth, which you managed to do really well. Great inclusion of quotes within the main body of text as well.

  • Use of case studies?

Unfirtunately I agree with SexySlave, I find that you found a tangent and didn't come back to the main point. With controversial issues always provide sound accurate case studies both for and against the argument. Speculation is based on previous prejudice and you need to research the medicinal effects thoroughly. Does it always lead to addiction? If so, provide evidence for your argument.

  • Victor's upbringing

Do you reckon that the highly idealised upbringing of Victor perhaps caused his highly controversial view of 'beauty = love'? Perhaps if the monster hadn't been so grotesque then Victor would have been proud of his creation? Victor was a victim in his own way as he wasn't ever subjected to anything less than perfect. no restrictings were placed on him as he was becoming an adult and he wasn't exposed to anything which wasn't beautiful. Perhaps love is a cycle of moderation. To give love we need to encourage diversity....But, having said that your essay is really well structured and your use of quotation is excellent, which makes it all flow together. and the points you make about the monster are spot on!

  • Good work

some good comments in this essay. I've read this about 5 times already in my youth but now I want to pick the book up and enjoy it all again. It never looses its sparkle does it? A gem of a book.

  • Comment

Some very good points raised. Perhaps I should be more direct? Or may be not? Or maybe it would better if I were? But would people think I was 'too bossy'? TYPICAL GIRL! Any how good essay and an eye opener - just need to take the points on board now!
