  In the first paragraph of this essay you state that Physician Assisted Suicide (PAS)is where "a doctor sets up a machine but the patient actually kills him or herself" This is incorrect. PAS (also called passive euthanasia) is where a Dr. gives a patient the means to commit suicide, usually a large dose of barbiturates. Physicians that use a machine are participating in active euthanasia (also called mercy killing).
