About 43% of American women will have atleast one abortion during their lifetime. Women's centers and hospitals perform more than a million abortions per year. Abortions are obviously in great demand. Women have many reasons for not wanting to be pregnant, and therefore seek an abortion. Many are young, unmarried with no means of support. In our society today, I feel that there should be no need for abortion. With contraceptives available, no one should be getting pregnant without it being planned..

The vast majority of abortions are due to personal reasons. Many women find it extremely hard to financially raise a child alone. While many others feel that their life would be changed too much. She might have a plan for her life such as achieving an education and starting a career. Women in difficult relationships may also be reluctant to bring a child into the world. More often times than not its young women who are not sufficiently mature enough to become a mother, they are still a child themselves.

When it comes to abortion, where do you draw the line? Whether the baby has only been developing for several days or weeks, you are still killing a child. There are too many people resorting to abortion and there shouldn't be the need to. With sex education in schools and contraceptives available for everyone, no one should be pregnant without the intention to be.

Some social and educational factors decrease or increase the abortion rate by altering the chances of an unwanted pregnancy. Other factors affect the abortion rate by making a pregnant woman more or less likely to seek an abortion.
