Adolf Hitler and Benito Mussolini were major influences in the events that led up to and occurred during World War II. Hitler took power of Germany in 1933, while Mussolini took power of Italy in 1926. These two men were power-driven and craved for it. They both took similar paths to leader, both squeezed their way in through the ranks. And despite what people think they were two good military, and economic leaders. Although they were too obsessed with power and had a hatred of democracy.

Adolf Hitler was born on April 20, 1889 at Braunau-am-Inn, on the Bavarian border. In 1913, Hitler moved to Munich. Hitler's putsch, however, was defeated. At the time the war started Hitler volunteered for the German army. In addition to that Hitler greeted war with excitement, in order to ease his frustrations in life. Interestingly Hitler found amity, discipline, and participation in conflict extremely satisfying.

After the war while Hitler was in prison, the Nazi party disintegrated through internal dissension. Hitler was forbidden from making speeches until late 1927. Hitler made an alliance with the Nationalist Alfred Hugenberg in a campaign against the Young Plan. Hitler's personal life grew more relaxed and stable with the added comfort that accompanied the party's success. Once in power, Hitler proceeded to establish an absolute dictatorship. The army leaders, satisfied at seeing the SA broken up, approved Hitler's actions. Once in power, Hitler devoted little attention to the organization and running of the domestic affairs of the Nazi state. Foreign policy claimed Hitler's greater interest. Hitler used all the arts of propaganda to allay the suspicions of the other nations. In November 1937, Hitler outlined his plans of future conquest to a secret meeting of his military leaders.
