What is art? Why is art important? What makes art good or bad?

Art is defined as the "Human effort to imitate, supplement, alter, or counteract the work of nature." An imitation, for example, would be a painting or statue of a famous king. It represents a duplicate image of the original. Such precision, accuracy, and skill are all needed for perfection. Ice sculptures are good examples of alternation to create art. At first a solid block of ice, it is slowly and carefully chiseled into a marvelous piece of work. Human counteraction with nature in the means of art would be building a bridge. The Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco is known as one of the most famous bridges in the world. Another great example is the Great Wall of China. Once made to keep the Mongolians out of China, this work of art is the only man made architecture that can be seen from outer space.

There are many other forms of art as well. Music is a form of art that has changed the life of many people. It is a daily part of your life and is important to the world. We play romantic music on special times such as weddings, enthusiastic and loud music at sporting events, and low music with bass to create a suspenseful mood at scary movies. Pop artists win awards, such as a Grammy, for their talents. Stars like Eminem, Garth Brooks, and Aerosmith all have different styles to sing but they are all connected with music. There are many different styles of music that can relate to any mood that you have because most lyrics are from personal experiences. Imagination and creativity are needed to create music, as well as a ton of talent. Without music there...
