There are many factors that create diversity in the workplace. Diversity can be a positive trait of a company or can cause workplace dilemma. Diversity is human qualities that are different from our own and outside the groups, to which we belong, yet are present in other individuals and groups (University of Maryland, 2001). Factors such as ethnicity, gender, age, religion or values can cause diversity within a company. . Employers must embrace the differences in all employees and learn how to manage the variations of each factor. In order to benefit upon diversity in the workplace, it is important to understand how individuals are different. In order for a company to be successful, the careful management of diversity is needed in order to control problems.

The Diversity of Garlick Enterprises, Inc.

At Garlick Enterprises, Inc., a property management company, diversity is greatly present. Some of he factors that create diversity at GEI are: age, gender, values and religion. At this company all of the different factors of the diversity are present and all are embraced by the employer/owner George Garlick. George respects all individual differences and never judges anyone because of their differences. He has full respect for all employees and values all diversities. George perceives everyone as equal and does not stereotype. This creates managing the diversity present in our workplace easy to embrace.

One of the factors that create diversity in the office of Garlick Enterprises is age. There are employees that range from the youngest at 24 years to the oldest of 68 years. I
