Augusto Pinochet or formally known as General Augusto José Ramón Pinochet Ugarte. Augusto was born on the 25th of November, 1915 in Valparaiso a city in the center of Chile. He had 5 siblings, 3 sisters and 2 brothers, Augusto was the eldest of them all. He attended primary and secondary at San Rafael Seminary of Valparaiso, which then led to him attending Military School in 1933. He graduated from Military School after four years with the rank of Luentent. On the 30th of January, 1945 Augusto married Lucia Hiriart Rodriguez. Together they had 5 children, 3 daughters and 2 sons. In 1945 he was appointed to Carampangue Regiment, in lquique. Then in 1948 he joined the War Academy where he was the youngest officer which meant he had to take on a mission of service in the coal zone of Lota. This indicated that his studies had to be postponed, but the following year he returned to his studies in the Academy.

He was also shipped out to Africa where he helped Chilean forces, 6 years passed and it was then time to come back to Chile. Soon enough Augusto was head of the Chilean branch of army. 1951 was a big year for Augusto as he got the title of Officer Chief of Staff, became a teacher at the Military school, was a teacher’s aide at the War Academy and was an editor for the institutional magazine Cien Aguilas, meaning 100 eagles. It all started to happen for Pinochet in 1973 when his political career took over. He was in charge of a coup to over throw the socialist government of Salvador Allende.
