The Awakening- Alternate Ending

A sudden knock at the door aroused Edna. She opened the door to Robert barging in.

"Edna we need to talk," he starts, "the reason I left was because I was in love with you and I couldn't help myself knowing you were married. Therefore, I went to Mexico hoping it would help me get over you, but instead it made things worse. I longed for you. I need to be with you. That's why I came back. I love you Edna."

In awe Edna replies, "Oh Robert, how long I've been waiting for you to say that. I feel exactly the same. Ever since you left I waited and waited hoping for you to return. You're the only person that will ever have my heart. I love you too, Robert." Finally, he leaned in and kissed her. A kiss so strong and passionate it strained her to him.

He stopped to talk, "Edna we must get out of here, lets go to a new place and start a new life where nobody knows us. It will be the best for us."

"But Robert, I have children and a husband that I cant leave behind. I have morals to keep after."

"I know. It was just me trying to dream for such a thing and hope you would be willing to come. I understand if I must leave."

"No Robert, do not go! I do not see myself as Mr. Pontelliers possession thus I can do as I want, lets get out of here. I cant take this dark sad life anymore, I must set myself free."

They both ended up at the beach and boarded Roberts boat. They were going to keep on sailing until they found a new island. Both...
