Mahatma Gandhi

Mahatma Gandhi is known throughout the world as the most powerful Hindu political leader of all time. Most people thought that he was just an influential Hindu guru, but his close friends and family knew that he was much more than that.

Mahatma was regarded as the symbol for free India. His life was full of meditation, prayer and fasting. He abandoned all earthly possessions and ate meagerly such as fruits, vegetables and goat's milk. He led quite the simple life. He was a very powerful speaker and his words did wonders to the Hindu political system. As a young boy, Gandhi showed a strong perseverance to succeed in life. At the age of 16, his father died and he had to find work to support his family. At the age of 19, he went to law school in London, England and then travelled to South Africa to put his knowledge to work.

His non-violent work stopped the discrimination against the people in the untouchable caste system and Gandhi renamed them the children of God. Gandhi also helped to ease the violence in India during the racial battles between Muslims and Hindus. This resulted in the birth of Pakistan.

Gandhi was remembered for his many intelligent quotes one of which is "You must not lose faith in humanity. Humanity is an ocean; if a few drops of the ocean are dirty, the ocean does not become dirty." This quote is a great lesson from the world's greatest teacher. The true meaning of this quote is that there are many people on this planet and they cannot ruin the whole planet if we work together to make this world better. I believe that this was the true goal for Mahatma. All he wanted was world peace and equality. He...
