Hi, Tanja. Sometimes I have such a feeling that I should change something in my life. Then I start think that the best way to start it would be from my next birthday. I wait for it and try to prepare myself for special life changes. What do you think about the Bronson Alcott phrase that "A birthday is a good time to begin a new, throwing away old habits, as you would old clothes and never putting them back on again"?

Tanja:

Yes, Ksenija. I have also caught myself on thinking about it. But I think that this is a means of human nature to think so. People always tried to think over a new START, in order to change their lives, be it a birthday, next Monday or next year. How often have you told yourself: "I start a new life from Monday. I will not eat chocolate sweet and will never smoke again."

Probably, it was not once. People do not have strong motivation and start to imagine some specific dates.

The cause of it is our stressful life. When we find ourselves unsatisfied with the way we feel, leave, doing things too much of the time that we don't really want to do, and not achieving the things we actually most want to achieve.

Tanja:

My opinion is that the main thing is in your mind and people can start to perceive life differently starting from the same moment they came to such a decision. Moreover, people tend to be superstitious and believe in specific things that are happening around a certain dates.
