Black Beauty Introduction A story of a horses life filled with kindness and love but also cruelty. This story makes you realize that horse have feeling and can be born in a loving home and grow up with kindness as a foal, and then be sold to many different owners, cruel or kind.

Black Beauty was born on a lovely farm with a nice meadow and lake he would relax during the day and drink his mothers milk. His mother's name was Duches but his master often called her Pet. When Black Beauty was little he was called "Blackie" because she was a dull shade of black and was just a foal. As Blackie grew he became very beautiful with a white star on his forehead, one white hoof and a small patch of white on his back. His master eventually changed his name to Black Beauty because she was so beautiful and black.

Black Beauty's master was a good man when he was little his master would bring him and his mother some fresh oats everyday and speak to them in a very kind voice. But Black Beauty's Mother told him that he may not always have a good master and the world can be cruel and not realize that animals have feelings to and to never kick or bite anyone.

Black Beauty's master decided to break in his horse himself. He slowly but surly got the Black used to wearing saddle, horse shoes and caring a rider on his back. Then it came time for the Black to be sold to a place called Britwick park where he was treated greatly and met knew friends. His knew master was Squire Gordon a kind man who loved horses.

The black missed his home and all his freedom but he had his friends Ginger and Marylegs. Marylegs was a pony who would give rides to the children who would come over once in a while and Ginger was a horse that was treated very badly in the past and gained a very strong temper but this was improving as she got more love and better treatment as she continued to live in Britwick park. One day, Ginger told Beauty all about her life. When she was just a young foal she was taken from her Mother and put in a pasture with other foals with no one to take care of her. There was also a young boy who would through stones at her in the pasture and sometimes he would through them harder than usual and they would hurt allot. When it came time for her to be broken in she was treated very roughly and no one took the time to try to make her feel better or heal her wounds. Then she got a knew master who worked her to hard and gave her no rest ,but one day this was to much for Ginger and she began to kick until he was off of her and she galloped off into the fields. It wasn't until mid evening when a kind man came and got her , but even though he was kind his master wasn't he wanted nothing more than to look very fashionable so he kept Ginger's bit so tight her mouth bleed and her head very high so that she couldn't move it. But now that she was in Britwick Park she was very happy and well treated by her new grooms James and John.

One day Mr. Bloom field the vicar in the village, came for a visit, he had several children who loved to ride Merrylegs and Merrylegs loved to give them rides, but this time the children took advantage of him and over worked him to much. So when Merrylegs couldn't take no more,he gently bucked of one of the boys to teach them a lesson.

Not long after Beauty was given his name his master need to go on a business trip so Beauty was to pull them. On their journey it was quite the storm and while they were riding a tree truck fell right into the middle of the road leaving no room for Beauty to get by so they had to turn back. When they came to the bride they had just crossed earlier Beauty would not cross the master tried to urge him but he wouldn't budge. It was then when a man came running out yelling Stop! Stop! the bridge is broken , when the water rose it broke the middle off the bridge. The Master thanked Beauty for saving his life and called him a hero. When they get back Beauty is treated very well.

After everything starts to settle down Beauty's master comes out to speak with James the groom. He offers him a job where he will be paid very well and will work for the masters friend who is a very kind man. He would have to learn to drive a stage coach and more but he would learn all of that before he left. James would take Ginger and beauty into big cities but one time in particular he was staying the night and the stable the horses were in caught on fire and James went in and lead the horses out . Allot of people were amazed that the horses trusted him and didn't go hysterical on him.

When James was just about ready to leave they got a new groom a young lad who didn't know much about hoses but was willing to learn. His name was Joe Green. When James left everyone was sad but things slowly perked up. Then one night when Beauty went to get the doctor because the mistress had become very I'll , he ran as fast as he could and took John there to get the Doc. But the Doc's horse was sick so John walked home and the Doc. took Beauty, even though he wasn't a very good rider Beauty ran as fast and hard as he could. When he got back Joe Green considered that he would be hot so gave him some fresh hay and oats and didn't cover him up, but this made Beauty very ill because he began to get very cold and sick when John got back he covered him up and yelled at Joe for being so ignorant to the situation. Beauty got better but the mistress didn't and he doctor said she had to live in a warmer condition so Merrylegs was sold to the vicar who promised never to sell her, and Ginger and beauty were sold to their masters friend Mr. York who's mistress was very fashionable. He made them wear a check rein right away and hold there heads very high, but one day Ginger lost her cool and went nuts. She soon got sold but Black Beauty didn't. They were both sad that she had to go, but there was nothing neither of them could do. Soon afterwards Beauty's master went away and left Ruben Smith the town drunk incharge. He didn't drink frequently but when he got into the booze he got crazy and one time when he took Beauty into town to do some errands but when he put him in the stable the stable groom noticed a loose nail in Beauty's heal So when Ruben came back he asked him if he wanted him to fix it, but because he was liquored up and he said no! When he got going he made Beauty go faster and faster and Beauty got stones stuck in his hoof and fell to the ground. Unfortunately for Ruben he died very slowly waiting for someone to find him but when they did come it was too late. Beauty and Ginger eventually met up again but Beauty was sent away. He went to many horse auctions and had few owners in-between, some kind men and some rough cab drivers but after a while he met a kind man named Jeremiah Baker but everyone called him Jerry. He had a kind family who treated him very well.

Beauty worked as a cab driver and was treated very well. One day when Beauty was working and saw Ginger she was very week and frail he could see that she was not treated with kindness they spoke for a few seconds and then Ginger was urged to leave. Then within a few seconds he heard some commotion in the street that a horse had died and he knew it was Ginger, in a way he was relived for her but sad that he would never see her again.

Then one night while they were working they had to wait along time for there customer in the cold snow, when they got home Beauty didn't see his master for quite some time because he had taken I'll and almost died. His doctor told him that he could never drive a cab again so Beauty was to be sold. He was sold to Nicholas Skinner who was a mean cab diver, he worked Beauty very hard and one day he was over loaded and week, and then collapsed to the ground. Mr. skinner had no time to get Beauty healthy so he auctioned him off. He was bought by a man who revitalizes horses and sells them. He was a kind man and helped Beauty get his strength back. When it came time to sell him Beauty was scared that he might get miss treated again but he was sold to Miss. Ellen and her two sisters, they were very kind women and promised never to sell him. Beauty was soon lead out to the barn where he met his knew stable groom, he looked Beauty over and talked to him-self he realized it was Blake Beauty. He told Beauty who he was , it was Joe Green, the young boy who almost killed beauty that cold night when he forgot to cover him. Beauty was very happy all of his worries were over he now had a wonderful life.
