In this case, the client is ESD international; they have a new building which in Melbourne. They require 20 Networked workstations, a fast connection to the Internet, a shared printer for all computer and intranet Server to host local web pages.

Firstly, we plan to set up a LAN network in the office, to meet their requirement we should put the cable modem, server, router and 1 Hub in the separate room, as the diagram will show in the section 3. In the main part of the room, we put 10 computers in each side, and all the workstation have to well-installed 2 Ethernet card in order to connect to the internet/ server or Hub. Firewall should be implemented in this stage as well because for the security purpose and it have the function which is port forwarding etc. The main job of firewall is like a filter, make sure no damaging data access into your workstation and cause damaging.

In addition the printer and the printer server should be in the LAN network. The network printer that is a machine which share by 20 workstations, also it connects to the printer server and the printer server which connect one of the hub. More detail will be discuss in section 3.

What elements will appear in the network?

Router is a device that connects any number of LANs. "Routers use headers and a forwarding table to determine where packets go, and they use ICMP to communicate with each other and configure the best route between any two hosts." (www.webopedia.com) And the router is connected to at least two networks and decides which way to send each information packet based on its current understanding of the state of the networks it is connected to.
