Case study of a learner
Learning Background:
I have chosen to analyze Andrei who is 25 years old. He is from Russia and has moved to Abu Dhabi recently. His native language is Russian. Andrei is in the Intermediate group.
Russian has five vowel sounds, while English has 12. In Russian, there's no difference between short and long vowels. The language has only three tenses compared to English. Phrasal verbs and articles do not exist in Russian.
Andrei hasn't learnt any other languages apart from English which he learnt when he had moved to Abu Dhabi a few months ago.
Andrei has a Bachelors' degree in Ship building. He hasn't learnt any other languages apart from English which he commenced learning 3 months ago at home. He considers himself to be an effective language learner which he inevitably has proven. He moved to Abu Dhabi 3 months ago not knowing any English.

Motivation:
2.1 Andrei wants to learn English to converse more proficiently with other people. His main aim for learning English is more socially based.
2.2 Inevitably, he wants to speak English fluently and communicate better. He also wants to read English books without any hassle and understand the lyrics of English songs.
2.3 Andrei would like to focus more on his speaking skills to converse better with other people.
Learning Style:
3.1 At home, Andrei watches movies in English, reads books, listens to music and speaks English with his friends to develop his productive and receptive skills.
3.2 The lesson should be engaging. Involve listening and speaking.
3.3 Andrei dislikes working in pairs and when other students ask too many questions which takes up time from the lesson.
