"The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists is a membership organization of obstetrician-gynecologists dedicated to the advancement of women's health through education, advocacy, practice and research" (The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologist, 2005). The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologist is situated in Washington, DC and has over 51,000 members. The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists is a group of professionals that provide healthcare for women. The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists works mainly in four areas.

1.Serving as a strong advocate for quality healthcare for women.

2.Maintaining the highest standards of clinical practice and continuing education for its members.

3.Promoting patient education and stimulating patient understanding of and involvement in medical care.

4.Increasing awareness among its members and the public of the chancing issues facing women's healthcare. (The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, 2007a)The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists follows a code of professional ethics to govern the behavior of its members.

This paper will discuss the clarity of goals, identified ethical principles, Grievance procedures, an opinion as to the feasibility of enforcing the entire code of professional ethics and recommendations for strengthening potential weak areas of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists code of professional ethics.

Clarity of GoalsThe goals of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists code of professional ethics are expressed clearly. The goals of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists code of professional ethics are to ensure that members carry out their ethical responsibility to the patients, society, other health professions, and themselves.
