My plane landed and I felt a sense of apprehension overcome me. As it came to a screeching halt, I anxiously stared out of the window in the dark trying to catch a glimpse of anything, anyone. Oh my god! I thought to myself, this is it I am finally here,. "I am in the United States of America!!!" I had woken up one day and my family and I had to flea my country, because of the civil war. Left with no choice we took what we could and came to the states.
I was so nervous and excited at the same time as to what was awaiting me. When the door opened and I stepped down from the plane, I felt a blanket of safety wrap its arms around me cover my whole body like a warm blanket being wrapped around me. I knew right there and then, that I am going to be okay.
A warm breeze brushed my face and I sighed a sigh of relief. "I am safe now" I said to myself.
As we drove from the airport I noticed how wide the streets were. I barely saw any mountains. Billboards were all around the streets shouting out the latest fashion trends or movies. I was so excited I couldn't contain myself, I was staring all around me even at the passers by. At the corner down one of the streets I saw a homeless person snuggled against some boxes, smoking his pipe away and staring a the sky. This reminded me of what I used to see in the movies. Yeah I am here this is going to be home.
I noticed there were more buildings, and streets and less of trees and shrubs. Where I come from it was the other...
Great!!!
It really makes you think about how people from the south back then didn't want to fight over such nonsense and would rather to move to the north... I like this essay...!!!
