Life/Work Essay I was born in Omaha Nebraska on April 22, 1982. I am the middle child in our family. I live in the small town of Tabor Iowa. I have a brother, John, who will soon be twenty and a sister, Kara, who is five. My brother and I have never gotten along very well. I was 13 when my sister was born. I get along with her very well. I attended Hillside pre-school in Tabor Iowa.
I lived on the farm with my family for the past 18 years. As a young child I enjoyed helping my dad with farm chores. I still like helping only when I want to. I started kindergarten in tabor community school district in tabor Iowa. The school joined with anotherand became known as A-S-T.
In Kindergarten I thought Mrs. Sternberg was mean. We would always try to do naughty things behind her back.

10.31.2010 289/365My first grade year was one I will never forget. At the end of the year the teacher and my parents decided to send me through first grade a second time. Next year I had a different teacher. I got through the year fine. In second grade my worst enemy became one of my good friends, Jason Bladt. We had many fights over stupid things.
My seventh grade year was going to be very different. This was the first year that our class and Avoca would meet. I did not know what to think with all of these different people coming into our school. I felt like they were invading my school. It was a new experience for all of us Shelby kids. That feeling did not last long. We soon became friends with one another.
