Compare and Contrast In today's day and age people are very critical about the way people from different areas treat others. I believe there are many similarities amongst these two types of people. However, I can not ignore the fact that there are numerous differences as well. Not only are these people different and alike concerning their social habits, but their living environments, recreational activities, and law enforcement traditions as well.

Many people are aware that the two opposites act differently than that of which each are used to. Ensuing are my views on the story.

People who reside in the country often snicker at those that dwell in the part of society so often referred to as the rat race. These people who in return are referred to as "Hicks" find it hard to understand the reasoning behind living in the city. Although people also known as "City Slickers" are often times closer to what they consider necessities.

Country people would rather rely on a small communities miles away to fulfill all of their needs. These needs mentioned are things like food, hygiene products, as well as any and all of their wants that people in the city take for granted. Another difference in the two is their up keep and or chores of which they are responsible for from day to day. City Slickers in my eyes, on this subject, are lazy. Whereas country people often have to complete a plethora of chores that are often times not finished until the sun goes down. City people usually have very few chores that are of great importance like milking a cow or collecting eggs. If nothing else these two different types of people have different living environments solely by their obviously different landscapes. Landscape, being the fact that country people can live miles away from each other and city people only have to walk a few paces to see their neighbor.

These two types of people also differ greatly in the way they have fun. Where people in the city usually go to a movie or to a club, people who live in the country normally have a "shin dig" or go hunting for fun. These two may seem extremely different, but if pondered there similarities become evident. The similarities of these two diverse types of entertainment are often hidden to the naked eye, but going to the club is much like going to a "shin dig" or "hoe down." When city people go golfing country "hicks" are normally found hunting or fishing. These two opposites are shown for the first time as similar in their recreational activities.

The last point I want to address is that of law enforcement. I have found that police in the country are on a very "buddy buddy" type of system. Whereas, city police are on a very professional, impersonal, need to know basis. Many country police will either let you go or give you a hard time depending on where your are from. City police on the other hand give people a hard time just because they think it is there job.

Often times in the country, police are ready to let you go if you have a certain last name.

However, in the city, because of population police are more apt to treat you like a normal person even though you have the same last name as the police chief.

In closing, I find that there are many reasons why one would rather live in the country than the city or the other way around. I personally find that living in the city is better because I would rather take things for granted then do without them for even a small amount of time. I do, however, understand why people who live in a stress free day to day environment would not trade it for the world. I also understand not wanting to live in a rat race, but as for me, give me the lights and show me the money.
