Jesus was crucified because he loved us and he wanted us to live a happy life. He suffered for us on the cross for us so we could be free of sin. So here is what happens with Jesus and his crucifixion. As the Gold Text of the Bible says, "God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son" ( this is found in John Chapter 3, verse 16).
Jesus was persecuted by many other people in higher positions because they feared that he would come up and take away there power. So they all decided to get rid of him, the arrested him, tried him and found him guilty. He was sentenced to be crucified at Punctious Point. If this was not bad enough two guys named Cyrene and Simon mad him carry his cross all the way to Mt. Golgotha (or the hill of Calvary), while people still were mocking him.

There are two versions here as there are with many things but one of them is said that the two robbers mocked him will they were there and said "If thou be Christ, save thyself and us." But the other version says that the one robber asked him for forgiveness, while the other one mocks him. But in Matthew's gospel it says that they both mocked him.
