A good friend of mine has just recently raised her self-esteem. It wasn't easy for her, but she is getting more confident of her abilities. She now has high self esteem and I would like to discuss three of the ways that she was able to raise it.

The first way she helped to raise her self-esteem was by getting to know herself. Getting to know oneself, and accepting yourself for who you are, is probably one of the hardest things for anyone to do. Accepting our own faults and realizing that it is alright to have shortcomings, is no easy task for anyone. When you are not good at one thing, it doesn't mean that you don't excel at another. We can't all be perfect, and as humans this is hard for us to accept.

Next she had to start believing in herself. If you believe you can do something, then you can.

You have to keep trying. Tell yourself that you can do it, even if you hit an obstacle. Half of the battle is won if you don't give up; tell yourself that you can't do it, or that it is too hard.

The third way she raised her self esteem was to form mutually beneficial relationships. When you have other people who believe in you, it makes it much easier to believe in yourself. If you start to stumble, you will have a support system to help you realize your own potential.
