Before researching this topic I was certain that rape was not a setback in the United States. However, I have found that rape, especially on college campuses, has become a major problem. At colleges and universities around the country alcohol has been the main cause of rapes. Statistics show that one hundred percent of gang rapes involve alcohol, and ninety percent of campus rapes have either the rapist or the victim under the influence of alcohol. Also, rapes are constantly increasing as the years pass. Only ten percent of the rape victims are male, therefore, something must be done to prevent women from being raped (Tucker 1).
Being that women are the majority of rape victims, something must be done to protect them. However, many people believe that women are the reason for rape. This is unusual. Women are being raped, but they are also being blamed. They say that men are just animals who are barbaric and cannot be trusted.
