Direct2cell is in the research and development stage of targeted nanoparticles headquartered in the United States. The organization is establishing a presence in Kava, a small island located in the South Pacific. Nik's new position with the organization and for the purpose of this paper will be to identify key problems and issues confronting management, present an analysis and evaluation of the site in Kava and suggest recommendations and a plan of action for the Direct2cell to proceed.

Direct2cell intends to become an internationally recognized leader in the development of nanoparticle immunobiologics for the prevention and treatment of human disease. (Company Confidential, 2008) The development of a strategic plan to implement a facility in Kava a small island in the South Pacific must be developed and implemented.

Key Problems, Issues and EffectsNik's first business trip to the island of Kava had not turned out as imagined, like visiting paradise on earth, Kava presented quite a different reality for eager young Nik. While Direct2cell had established a modern workplace in the U.S. with a staff of several hundred employees the Kava site was shockingly dreadful with a rundown trailer as a temporary office and one other employee, Alex, Nik's manager, who at first was mistaken for administrative staff. Alex, the director of strategic planning, is the leader of the Kava operation.
