Going through life you will have to make a lot of decisions. In the story, "Where Are You Going, Where Have You Been?", by Joyce Carol Oates, she introduces us in third person to Connie, the protagonist, who is forced to make many decisions.
Arnold Friend, the antagonist and very convincing teenager, is trying to convince Connie to go for a ride. The first time he said, "You wanta come for a ride?" He tries to make her interested by saying "Don't you like my car? New paint job." He even told her she was cute. She did not go because she did not know him. He wanted her to see what was on his car. "Around the other side is a lot more," he stated. She replied that she had things to do.
Connie wanted him to leave. She told him that she was going to call the police.

Finally, Arnold Friend told Connie, "This is how it is. You are going to drive away with me and have a nice ride. But if you don't, I will wait till your people come home and they will get it." Connie became sick with fear. She was afraid that she would never see her mother and the rest of her family. She didn't want anything to happen to them, so she made a big decision. She left with him.
Even though some of these decisions were not major, it still shows you that when going through life you have to make decisions.
