Nothing is worse than to be alone in the world, and without having any friends, alone is how you will live your life. Albert Camus once said "Don't walk in front of me, I may not follow. Don't walk behind me, I may not lead. Walk beside me and be my friend." Friendships differ between people. Friendships span from individuals, ages, families, neighbors, and cultures. For example, a friendship a person may have with their parents would be different than the friendship they may have with a person of their own age. However, friendships come in many forms and can exist between best friends, friends, lovers, children, parents, siblings, animals and many more.

According to Webster's Dictionary, the definition of friendship is defined as

the state of being friends, or a friendly feeling. A friend, on the other hand, is defined as a person of whom one is fond of.

The second definition states a friend as an ally, supporter, or a sympathizer. My personal definition of what friendship is, is a feeling or emotion expressed in such a way that another feels wanted and important. It is a type of relationship where friends are people whom you can have several different types of relationships with, and feel many emotions for that person. It is someone who you can go to in the time of need and they will be there to pick you up when you are dealing with your hardest times. Also, no matter what you do, they are always there for you. Friendship is a type of relationship where both partners need to work on understanding each other and developing trust. Not only is a friendship a commitment, but it is also takes great devotion.
