This paper discusses the factors that make successful delegation of tasks, how people work together and what managers should take into consideration; their subordinates or associates in the delegation process. Delegation is a powerful process that helps civilians and military members accomplish tasks as a team. The heart of delegating is developing and growing people. It marks a big step in your professional development when you realize that other people can help you do a better job than you could do alone. The paper explains the importance of managers being clear about the delegated tasks and giving the employees ample scope to ask questions, evaluate the progress and offer assistance as needed. Once you move up, someone you've developed through delegation steps in and the department continues to run smoothly. It is the purpose of this paper to examine the various elements of managerial delegation and how to use it more effectively.

Delegation is a skill of which we have all heard - but which few understand.

Good management is practiced in many forms and in great diversity of business. There are basic principles of how to manage, but they would be applied differently in different situations. Although in my opinion delegating is one of the most difficult aspects of any management job, there are many important benefits derived by the organization as well as the manager when tasks and responsibilities are properly delegated. Through delegation, my supervisor can ease the job of managing and thereby increase job effectiveness of the work group.
