Who Is Dennis Rader?

Dennis Rader, more famously known as BTK, is one of the most famous serial killers in the world. He haunted Sedgwick County for about three decades killing at least ten people. This included one family of four, the Otero family, and six other unrelated victims. Rader got the name BTK killer because he liked to bind, torture, and kill his victims. He took souvenirs from his victims' homes.

From the time of his first crime to early 2005, he teased the police with letters, pictures, packages, disks, notes, and puzzles to help them reveal who BTK actually was. The disk helped police find Rader's church, which he was an active member of and his van that he dropped the packages for the police off in. Police also got a sample of DNA from Rader's daughter which was solid evidence that Dennis Rader was BTK.

He was arrested on February 25, 2005 and sentenced to ten life terms in the El Dorado Correctional Facility. Dennis Rader is still alive in the facility. He is 69 years old.

Dennis Rader, also known as the BTK killer, was born on March 9, 1945 in Pittsburg, Kansas, but grew up in Wichita, Kansas. Rader has four younger brothers, all born to parents Dorothea Mae and William Elvin Rader. He appeared normal from the outside growing up. Rader joined the Boy Scouts and was active in church youth group activities. In school he was an average student, but he was a bit withdrawn at times.
