Prior to understanding the depth in which Dr. Martin Luther King has infected people such as myself, I had recognized him as none more than a symbol. To me, he was merely an emblem that stood for the rights of African-Americans. Never had I felt the urge to into further explore what he really stood for. Until now, I had no firm cognition as to what he has done for all of mankind.
Through knowledge that he fought for the rights of every man in subject of being persecuted, I became fascinated with the teachings and preachings of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. He made a speech that spoke the ever-luminous words "I have a dream"æ."� This had simply been a string of words I had heard repeatedly throughout my lifetime, but when I heard Martin Luther King, Jr. say it himself, I could feel the ache in my jaws as it hung open.

He was a fighter against the exclusion all of society has felt since the beginning of existence. When you cogitate hard enough, you will come to the conclusion that people of all races, genders, sizes, religions, and social classes can face segregation at one point or another. Dr. Martin Luther King fought for the rights of all, including you and me both. He was a man of integrity and moralities, helping others realize the profundity of our society's most imminent issues.
I've just come to realize that Dr. King has granted me something even my parents could not have provided: the freedom to be whatever and whoever I choose to be. He has shattered the barriers for those whose ancestors faced segregation. Being Chinese, I could have easily been singled-out among my peers in the white-dominant environment in which I reside. Being a female in previously male-dominant society, I might've not had the luxury of making my own choices. Dr. King has aided in allowing people to recognize what freedom can achieve. His work played a stalwart role in the wondrous progress of propelling people to grasp the ideals of impartiality. Without his wisdom and gallantry, what we have now would have not been conceivable. He was the man that brought everyone freedom.
Beyond the words "I have a dream"æ"� Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was also a man with the beliefs of peace. He fought with passion and fury, but never to the extent of violence. He believed that "Nonviolence is the answer to the crucial political and moral questions of our time: the need for man to overcome oppression and violence without resorting to oppression and violence. Man must evolve for all human conflict a method which rejects revenge, aggression and retaliation. The foundation of such a method is love."� How ironic that must sound when you think of how his life cam to brusque end. However, his legacy will live on perpetually. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was the man that set the foundation in our leap towards equality.
