"Originality, does not mean thinking something that was never thought before, it means putting old ideas together in new ways." There are a lot of people out there who think that similar ideas and products, that resemble one another, are not original. What about the button and the zipper? Imagine how much money the person made that took the idea of the button to close a shirt in the front, and thought up the zipper. I wish I were that guy.

I can see how people can say that similar ideas are not original. The person that comes up with a good idea wants to make money from it or use the idea to help with something. They don't want some other person to turn around and come up with a slightly better form of the idea and steal the spotlight. But if you take and idea and research it and make it as good as you can, it can last for a long time.

There are a lot of people out there who took ideas from the past and turned them into something different or even better. An example of this would be screw on caps to containers. This is an idea that has been used for a long time now, and people are thinking up different ways to close containers. I have a container in my room that is for making protein shakes. It is plastic and it has a snap on top. That is a good idea taken from a similar one. The person who thought up this snap on top made money off of me and I don't see the screw on cap going down the drains at all.
