Explore how Frankenstein has been presented in the novel so far.

The novel Frankenstein follows a man called Victor Frankenstein who tries to reanimate a dead body and create new life. It then follows his guilt for creating such a monstrous being. And how the monster who is also known as Frankenstein seeks revenge for giving him a life not worth living.

Throughout this novel, it talks about the theme of family, kinship and isolation. In the chapters, we have read so far, it presents to us flashbacks of Victor's childhood to give us a sense of how he came to be the man he is now. During his childhood, the books describes to us that Victor had quite the care-free and perfect, as his parents were always there for him. "No human being could have passed a happier childhood than myself. My parents were possessed by the very spirit of kindness and indulgence.

We felt that they were not the tyrants to rule our lot according to their caprice, but the agents and creators of all the many delights which we enjoyed…" (2.3) Here, is a personal description from Victor about his parents. In this extract, Victor describes his parents as people who resonate the purest and very soul of kindness emphasising how innocent and perfect his life was. However, here Victor also uses words such as 'indulgence,' 'tyrants,' 'agents' and 'creators of' which are words people do not usually associate with their parents, but by doing this Victor also says they are people who misunderstood their roles as parents and in turn are people only look after the offspring as they believe and think is the right/moral thing to do.
