Introduction

Huffman Trucking is a privately held trucking company that provides carrier services between factories in the Midwest to the ports on the East Coast. Kristen Huffman, CEO and President, founded Huffman Trucking in 1936 with just one single tractor trailer. Over the years the company has successfully grown to over 16 tractors and 36 trailers. The purpose of this paper is to review the functional areas within the company and how their relationships work with each other and if there are any changes that could be made to successfully improve the company for the future.

Reasons the Company Exists

The Huffman Trucking Company has both a mission and vision statement for their organization.

The mission statement is 6-fold and covers each aspect of why they do what they do. They are there to reward the stockholders, because they are the investors of the company. They want to make sure that the decisions they make are always in the best interest of the stockholders. The customers are another area of concern and they are working to make sure that they receive a fair priced service while providing good customer service. They also want to be regulatory and be sure to exceed the safety standards that are expected of them within the industry. The employees are of course a priority making sure that they are compensated well for their efforts and are receiving the proper training to ensure they do the job the right way, the first time.
