THE GRAND CANYON

The Grand Canyon is a World Heritage Site that was inscribed in 1979 and since then has been a very well known World Heritage site. The Grand Canyon is the most amazing land formation you will see.

LOCATION

The Grand Canyon is located on the west side of North America also known as the USA. It is located in the state of Arizona between the two states of Phoenix and Sedona. The Grand Canyon's geographical location is between 110° W to 115°W and 35°N to 40°N.

DESCRIPTION OF THE GRAND CANYON

The Grand Canyon was carved out by the Colorado River and now is one of the world's great spectacles. This is the reason why there are many deep gorges which shows the Earth's evolution over 2 million years and the Colorado River is still carving different shapes and in a couple of years time there will be different rock formations due to weathering and erosion.

THE GLOBAL IMPORTANCE

The Grand Canyon is a place that geologists will enjoy to reside, it is amazing how much they can learn about how the Earth's evolution over the years. The Grand Canyon is a place where nature is protected but the tourists can still explore and get pleasure from the Canyon's natural beauty. Hikers have no chance of being lonely because more than thousand people walk the Angel Trail in year.

MANAGEMENT OF THE SITE

There is a Secretary of Interior that is responsible for the overall development of each national park in America but a superintendent is appointed to each national park to look over the rangers. Organizations help in their own ways by raising money, helping development and protecting endangered species.

GOVERNMENT ROLE

The government has tried to help to restore the peace and serenity to the Grand Canyon but air tours have made it a challenge for him the Grand Canyon trust is backing him up but he had tried to little to late. Bill Clinton hade made a speech about trying to help restore the peace but the Federal Appeals Court had not met the timeline.

ROLES OF INDIVIDUAL GROUPS

Many individual groups are raising funds for the Grand Canyon mainly UNESCO and the national park itself, the funds have contributed to the building of the new skywalk this is a new way to look at one of the worlds largest gorges, with stunning views it will be a good way for tourists to explore.
