People needed money to spend and buy food and clothing. “ William Aberhart would give every citizen $25 per month to buy the basic necessities of food, clothing and shelter.” (Etobicoke Board of Education). Parents would have money to buy healthy food for their children. During the Depression a lot of people became sick because they ate garbage and didn’t have places to live. $25 payout would stop this horrible way of life.

“Social Credit’s solution to the Depression was very simple but it would work, because once people have money and begin to buy, businesses will begin to produce goods, hire workers and there would be an increase demand for goods and more people will have jobs.
